Parthenope: the inclusive digital platform that tells the story of Naples through its leading women
Phantasya presents a new digital project that brings together accessibility, innovation, and participatory storytelling: Parthenope, an immersive platform dedicated to the women who have shaped the history and cultural identity of the city of Naples.
Developed with the scientific support of the University of Naples Federico II, Parthenope was designed to be accessible to all, removing barriers and enhancing engagement. The platform adopts inclusive design principles, focusing on both the interface and content:
- It integrates tools such as text-to-speech, multilingual subtitles, and simplified interfaces, ensuring an intuitive and complete experience for users with sensory, cognitive, or linguistic challenges.
- Non-sighted users can also fully enjoy the platform thanks to AI-generated voice-overs that “give voice” to historical female figures, making the journey even more immersive and inclusive.
Aimed at a wide audience — from students to international visitors — Parthenope offers an engaging experience for younger users as well, through a game-based section that encourages active learning through play.
In addition to text, audio, and 4K video content, Parthenope incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence for the creation of digital characters, and a multichannel experience also available through a mobile app for Android and iOS. The app includes offline features, push notifications, and augmented reality (AR) content.
This is a project built to be constantly evolving: the platform is open and continuously updated, with new stories, contributions, thematic paths, and tools aimed at encouraging active user participation.
